What a business account is
How is a business different from a normal seller account?
A business is a separate, HSC-verified selling entity owned by your personal account. It has its own public page, its own listings, its own orders and its own dashboard — kept completely separate from your personal profile and personal selling. Your shopfronts and personal listings stay on your personal account; your business stands on its own.
Why would I open one?
A verified business gets a blue verified tick, a dedicated storefront at
/store/your-business, a place in the public Businesses directory, a team with staff roles, and a clean separation between business and personal trading for accounting and trust.Applying & verification
How do I apply?
Go to Business accounts (also in your dashboard menu) and complete the application: business name, type (sole trader, Ltd, LLP, partnership, charity or other), legal details, contact and registered address. Then submit it for review.
Who approves it, and how long does it take?
Every application is reviewed by the HSC team — nothing about the business unlocks until we approve it. Reviews usually take 1–2 working days and you're notified of the decision. If it needs changes, you'll see the reason and can edit and re-submit.
What's the director ID check?
Before approval, the business owner completes a quick identity check (a photo ID + selfie) through our verification partner, Stripe Identity. Your ID is handled securely by Stripe and is never stored on HSC — we only receive a pass/fail result and a few confirmed details for our records.
Is my information safe?
Yes. Identity documents live in Stripe's compliant vault, not on HSC. Company documents are kept in private storage and used only for verification.
The business dashboard
Where is it and how do I switch to it?
Once approved, open it from My Businesses in your dashboard menu, or use the Switch to [business] option in the top-right account menu. It has its own workspace with an Overview, Listings, Orders, Team and Settings — and its own bottom navigation on mobile. Use ← Back to personal to return.
What's on each page?
Overview — headline stats (net earnings, sales, listings, views, followers). Listings — the products listed under the business. Orders — the business's sales. Team — your staff and their roles. Settings — the public page's look (logo, colours, socials, opening hours, returns).
How do I list something as the business?
Use New product from inside the business dashboard. The listing is posted under the business (you'll see a "Posting under [business]" note) and appears on the business page and in marketplace search — never on your personal profile.
Team & staff roles
Can I add staff?
Yes. On the Team page the owner (and admins) can add members and give each a premade role. For safety, you can only add people on your friends list — you and the person must follow each other.
What are the roles and what can they do?
Each role grants a fixed, sensible set of permissions, in a clear hierarchy:
OwnerFull control — settings, listings, orders, the team, billing, and closing the business.
AdminManage the team, settings, listings and orders. Cannot manage billing or other admins.
ManagerManage settings, listings and orders. Cannot manage the team.
ListerCreate and manage listings only.
DispatcherHandle orders and fulfilment only.
SupportView-only access to the dashboard.
How does the hierarchy work?
You can only assign roles below your own and only manage members below your own level. So an Admin can add and manage Managers, Listers, Dispatchers and Support, but can't change other Admins or the Owner. Any member can remove themselves.
Your public page & growth
Where do customers find my business?
At your storefront
/store/your-business, in the Businesses directory, from a "Sold by business" link on each of your products, and from a Business card on the owner's seller profile.What do followers get?
Customers can follow your business. When you post a new product, your followers are notified with a link to it.
Fees & getting paid
What does it cost?
Business sales use the same transparent fee model as the rest of HSC: a platform fee on the item value only (never on delivery) plus the card-processing fee — see Fees explained.
Where do business earnings go?
Sale proceeds are credited to the owner's HSC wallet and paid out the same way as personal sales. (Dedicated business billing and a separate business balance are on the roadmap.)
